Welcome to the summer edition of the VOM Magazine! Now that we are well into the new year and with summer upon us, it’s hard to believe that it’s already June! As we look forward into the year we must know that whatever you happen to be going through at this moment, whether good or bad, we must know that it’s only for a season. We can turn to the everlasting word of GOD, and in this case, also a song made famous in 1965 from the folk group the “Byrds”.
The lyrics are almost verbatim from Ecclesiastes 3:1-8;
To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
So, with this summertime “season” upon us we encourage you, and perhaps family members or friends, to get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine! Vitamin D, provided in it’s purest form from the sun, is essential to good health and well being. Even only 30 minutes of moderate exercise or physical activity per day while outside is proven to improve mental and emotional health, and a great way to get your Vitamin D! One of the easiest ways to experience these benefits, is to just take a long walk after your evening meal. This is proven to lower blood sugar and prime you for a good night’s rest.
The nice weather ahead of us is also the perfect time to connect or re-connect with our Veterans and first responders that you may know. Invite them to church, a bible study, or just fellowship with them. Maybe mention bible verses Mattew 7:7-8. A very powerful statement about GOD’s unconditional love for us. It says: “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
We must never forget that our Veterans and first responders are this country’s most precious citizen patriots who deserve, and quite frankly, are owed our eternal debt of gratitude. It is the least we can do to pay special attention to our men and women who’ve served this great nation and ensure they are well cared for. Here at VOM we take the statement, “Healing Through Christ” very literally. We know that a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ can heal all. We encourage anyone reading this to feel free and reach out to any of us listed on the following page. Have Blessed and joyful summer!
