INGREDIENTS:

MARINADE:
• 1 tsp cornstarch
• ¼ tsp baking soda
• 3 Tbsp soy sauce
• 1 tsp vegetable oil
• 1 lb flank steak

SAUCE:

• 3 Tbsp soy sauce
• 1/3 cup oyster sauce
• 1/3cup water
• 1 tsp sesame oil
• 2 Tbsp brown sugar
• 2 tsp cornstarch

STIR FRY:
• 3 tsp vegetable oil
• 3 small onions, cut into wedges
• 4 cups broccoli florets
• 1 medium carrot, peeled, cut into sticks
• 3 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 Tbsp fresh ginger
• ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes
• scallions, for garnish
• 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
• hot cooked rice

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. In a medium bowl combine marinade ingredients. Add the sliced steak. Toss, cover, set aside for 30 minutes.

2. Combine all the sauce ingredients, whisk until blended. Set aside.

3. Heat 1 tsp vegetable oil in a large skillet. Add half the beef, cook until browned and crisp on edges. Remove to a plate. Repeat.

4. Add 1 tsp of oil into empty pan. Add the onion, carrots, broccoli and stir fry for 4-5 minutes. Reduce heat to medium, add the garlic, ginger, red pepper flakes. Sauté, stirring constantly until the garlic is fragrant, about 1 minute.

5. Return beef to the skillet. Add sauce. Cook, stirring until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.

6. Remove from the heat and serve over hot cooked rice, garnish with sliced scallions and toasted sesame seeds.
